The Project

The purpose of this project is to develop an application which visualizes audio and music in three separate ways.

Music DNA
We want to analyze the meta data of the music files in question to generate a diagram that shows, for example, the composition of the different genres in the audio. This works best if there are several audio files being played at once, because then the genre diversity is the biggest.

Grid
We also wanted to see if we could find any patterns in our audio by visualizing the music in a grid, and making certain blocks in the grid light up depending on the frequency and volume of the sounds. If there is a pattern in the music, it should show up in the grid.

Timeline
The timeline is basically a line graph based on an equalizer. With this graph you can see if there have been any significant changes in the volume in different points in time.

The application framework allows you to add, edit and remove audio. The audio comes from a large database (probably freesounds.org) so there is plenty to choose from.
